Grow Up Great!
Noon to 5 pm
Eichelberger Performing Arts Center

A FREE event for pre kindergarten age range. Presented by PNC On Stage in partnership with Sesame Street Workshop, Grow Up Great! will be on stage at the Eichelberger with interactive educational fun including a visit from Cookie Monster and Mr. McFeeley from Mister Roger's Neighborhood. Free
educational materials, including instructional CD's will be given to all
children attending the event. (The information is presented in English and Spanish). The Academy at Eichelberger, a musical theater and drama instructional program for ages 4 to 18 will also have information,
materials and tours available.

Parking is free and is available behind the theater.

September 6, 2008
The 6th Annual Colonial Classic Band Competition will be held, in Colonial Stadium at New Oxford High School. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the New Oxford Middle School Band takes the field at 6:20 p.m. for the National Anthem. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. with the following bands in competition so far with the New Oxford High School Marching Band in exhibition:

Greencastle-Antrim
Upper Dauphin Area H.S
South Western H.S
Delone Catholic High School
York Catholic HS
Lebanon Catholic H.S
Red Lion Area H.S
Littlestown H.S
Francis Scott Key (Union Bridge, MD)

Advance tickets are available by contacting: Ellen Ruhlman at 624-4794. Student/Senior Citizens- $6.00; Adults- $8.00. Tickets available at the gate the night of the show are: Student/Senior Citizens: $7.00; Adults: $9.00.

Third Annual Abbottstown Community Spirit Picnic, 2pm to 6pm, held at the Abbottstown Park on West High Street, rain date is September 27th. This year enjoy the tasty barbeque and hot dogs provided by the picnic committee, and they ask everyone attending to bring their favorite homemade covered dish.

Bring your favorite recipes along, the committee would like to have a recipe exchange and print the Abbottstown's Favorite Recipes Cookbook, for a picnic fundraiser.

There will be an auction as a picnic fundraiser. A pumpkin painting and decoration contest for the kids, hayrides and games for the young and the young at heart. There is a pie and cake contest, call (see below) if you want to enter. Lots of door prizes, live entertainment, face painting, volleyball, and a fun time for all.

Volunteers are needed. Contact Debbie Shearer at 259-6464 with any questions, ideas or suggestions.

Harvest Parade (formerly known as the Halloween Parade), craft show will take place from 8am to 3pm around the New Oxford circle, the parade will start at 4pm.

53nd Annual Antiques Market and Craft Show, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., On the streets of New Oxford, Antiques Dealers, Food, Crafts, Entertainment; Over 160 Antiques Dealers plus permanent shops; always the third Saturday in June.

Adams Rescue Mission seeks food donations: organizations or businesses to conduct food drives, donations of a staple food for any length of time, providing a single meal for residents, Heidi Dietrick, 334-7502.
